Idea Overview :

• Initially, I wanted to keep working on my drum machine. But I could not think of any interesting way to use faceAPI besides for using it to control the play/pause function. I already did something similar with soundClassifier.
• I played around with drum machine for a while, trying to use handpose to control the cursor, and make everything a little bit smoother. It kind of worked, but there are still some things I need to figure out.
• So I moved on to my second Idea which would actually use one of the ML face tracking functions we learned this week: faceApi.

I used faceApi to extend another one of my past projects called ‘Pond Scum’

Summary of Original ‘Pond Scum’ Sketch

• This sketch allows you to ‘explore’ a part of the screen and interact with some of the ‘particles’ or creatures floating around.

• While the area around your explorer is visible, the rest of the screen is not. This intends to mirror how it feels to look through a microscope into a petri dish. It is also similar to using binoculars, or a telescope.

• To do this, I implemented a ‘flashlight’ functionality. For this, I was inspired by a mode on the Rhythm game ‘OSU!’

  

• I generated the background using Midjourney.
