Data Research

In preparation for next Thursday's class, find a dataset that interests you! Here are some places to get started:

• Something you find online. For example, take a look at Kaggle, awesome datasets or this list of datasets.
• Find a dataset that you collect yourself or is already being collected about you. For example, personal data like steps taken per day, browser history, minutes spent on your mobile device, sensor readings, and more.

Post a link to the dataset that interests you on the homework wiki. (I would also suggest taking a peek at the instructions for assignment 5b in next week's material).

Datasets about me!

• Around the end of my first semester freshman year, I started having ‘new notes’ sent to my ‘Things3’ App inbox. I vowed to write at least one sentence / day for as long as possible. I think I was able to do this for about 1 year before it fizzled out. I still do this journal as best as I can though it’s much less consistent.
• One of the biggest original motivations for keeping this journal was that I thought it would be interesting to analyze the data someday. I also thought this would be especially interesting because I started this journal sort of at the beginning of Covid, and I have kept up over long stretches of quarantine.
• I’d like to see what my words say about me, my mood etc from a psychological standpoint about how university life and Covid has impacted me.
